Tower, Mast & Monopole Analysis (GDC)

Lattice structures, shell structures and foundations.

Structural Analysis

We survey and analyse all structures including lattice towers, small masts and monopoles including their foundations for the purposes of structural assessment and upgrades. With equipment becoming heavier at height we also consider the dynamic effects that can lead to augmented forces from turbulent winds, that lock into the natural vibrations of tall structures.

Whether the structure is a greenfield 80m tower or a 10m rooftop stub tower on a supporting steel grillage we offer a design checking service that studies and checks all details to ensure a safe and robust structure. We aim to assess all components of a structure and not make assumptions on stress critical components.

We can design and detail Interface assemblies to marry new structures to old foundations where site requirements dictate a different structure but efficiently use the existing foundation.

Strengthening Solutions

We have designed and detailed hundreds of strengthening schemes for all types of telecoms and broadcast structures taking designs through to digital fabrication drawings to ensure fit.

We work closely with rigging/steelwork contractors to ensure strengthening solutions provide the most practical approach for installation whilst satisfying the structural requirements to reduce stresses in the parent structure.

Headframe Analysis

Owing to modern 4G and 5G antenna systems the demand on tall structures is increasing with significant increases in weight and wind areas being located on headframes and face frames. We survey and analyse any headframe using 3D space frame analysis software that checks all elements to Eurocodes.

Strengthening or complete replacement design of antenna mounting structures is part of our DNA and we are happy to advise on any aspect of this work.
